Description of the Interactive Tool
This exercise creates a learning opportunity for students to engage in systems thinking related to global health issues. It builds on but goes beyond the way WHO is advocating for health systems. It The exercise consist of an introductory lecture, reading materials, instructions for a systems thinking task on the complexity of a specific health problem, an exersise in framing systems and a presentation with discussions about the process and the results of the exercise.
Points of Strength
The students do reach a basic understanding of what systems thinking might be, some at a greater depth than others. What the exercise shows is that such a basic understanding can be achieved within a week of work.
