Summary
A framework to teach artificial intelligence (AI) in business programs is introduced in this article. The author presents the motivation to teach students to adopt AI solutions strategically in order to get exponential benefit overtime. They state that many organizations want to incorporate AI solutions into their processes although the path of doing it is not clear. Thus, the author introduces 3S (story, strategy, solution) framework based on conventional teaching and strategic practices. The initial definition of the framework is followed by a more detailed explanation by defining 9 substages related to students’ activities, such as research, prototype, deploy, and others. The framework is analyzed from several perspectives to illustrate its features to take into account ethical issues, practical applications, and complexity. The authors concludes that the framework contributes to develop critical thinking skills and hands-in experience with AI instead of the deep understanding of AI methods.
Relevance for Complex Systems Knowledge
The authors provide a framework of teaching artificial intelligence (AI) to business students. The framework is based on 3S (Story, Strategy and Solution) and is dedicated to enable business students to define the business problem and to identify whether and how AI can be incorporated to solve this problem. Although it should not be expected that business students will develop a deep technical understanding of AI under this framework, they should be able to develop critical thinking and experience in decision making. These skills are important in analysis for which AI is applied as a complex system. At least basic general knowledge of AI is important for the business students as AI systems become more powerful, poplar and widely used in various business areas. The knowledge of AI enables business students to improve communication between the management and technical experts.

The point of strength of this article is a provided framework of 3S (Story, Strategy and Solution) which can be applied in teaching artificial intelligence for the business students.
